Golden Valley County Road Winter Advisory
The Golden Valley County Road Department is responsible for maintaining 540 miles of County Road. We do so with 3 employees. We will be closely watching the weather and are on call to plow snow 7 days a week. Pursuant with the County Road Policy, we will be plowing Emergency Routes, School Routes, and Mail Routes first. We will then be moving on to roads that people live on but are not those designated routes. Lastly, we will be plowing the roads that do not meet any of those criteria.
Quickly changing weather patterns, as well as snow drifts may temporarily make some roads inaccessible. We highly recommend that you have enough food to last you if you do get blown in and are unable to get supplies. We also highly recommend that you have a proper emergency supply kit in your vehicle that includes food, blankets, first aid kit, flares, and other necessary emergency supplies.
If you are behind one of us while we are plowing snow, please stay back 300 feet. Sometimes we have to stop or backup suddenly. Do not try to pass unless the machine pulls off and comes to a stop in order to allow you get by. If you are oncoming to a plow, please make room for them to go by you. Do not exit your vehicle while a plow is going by.
